- LCdr. Samson was orphaned in an air-car accident at age 5 and adopted by friends of her parents. She attended Starfleet Academy at age 17 where she attended colonisation school.
Her first tour of duty was on a Terraforming station on Slater's World where her experience with the work crews left her with a disdain for civilians. Her next tour was as a Mission Ops officer on the USS Yasaba NCC-55783. In 2365, the Yasaba was destroyed by a Cardassian warship during the Battle of Kalneth IX, and Samson spent 6 weeks in a lifepod with 5 other survivors whom she rescued from the wreckage at risk to her own life. She suffers from claustrophobia as a result of the extended trauma. After treatment and counselling, she was assigned to the colonisation team on Gavra III, where she met Lt. Lund. She spent three years as Mission Ops officer on the USS Crazy Horse NCC-50446 before being assigned to Dyson Base. Dyson Base is officially rated as a department head's billet under Starbase 21.
